It is well known that a new second language is fostered well by providing opportunities to learn it at an early age along with emphasizing the development of one’s native language. So, more and more countries are introducing English-language instruction earlier in school. There are a large number of approaches on language learning, and that number is becoming even larger nowadays. Inside that enormous scheme of different approaches some of them work well together, sharing advantages and Wonaco complementing disadvantages presented when using one approach alone. English is easy when good learning materials and good learning strategies are adopted.

In the first section, we provide a brief overview of nature journaling in environmental education (EE) and ELT contexts. In the second section, we connect nature journaling with the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL)’s five SEL competencies, the framework grounding our conversation. In the third section, we reflect on our practices and provide six considerations for practitioners seeking to incorporate nature journaling in diverse ELT spaces and environments. In the fourth section, we share an example of a nature journaling activity ELT practitioners can use with their English learners.
